Fong-Chin Su is the Executive Vice President and Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Immediate Past President of World Association for Chinese Biomedical Engineers, and Councilor of World Council of Biomechanics (2014-26).
With regard to professional activities, he is former Co-Editor-in-Chief, Biomedical Engineering OnLine (Springer Nature, 2014-20), Co-Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering (Springer, 2015-2020), Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Taiwan (2017/02-2018/07), CEO of Taiwan Biomedical Development Board (2017/02-2018/07), Founding Director of Medical Device Innovation Center (2011-17), NCKU, President of Taiwanese Society of Biomedical Engineering (2011-14), President of Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics (2002-03), and Executive Councilor of the Taiwan Industrial Technology Association (2002-16).
Dr. Su has received several honors and awards including Life Achievement Award, Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics (2018), National Industrial Innovation Award (2017), AIMBE Fellows (2016), Fellow of International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE, 2013), Han Wei Medal Taiwanese Society of Biomedical Engineering (2015), and You-Li Chou Medal, Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics (2007).

Dr. Tung-Wu Lu received his D.Phil. in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Oxford in 1997. He is currently a Professor and Head of Department of Biomedical Engineering at National Taiwan University. He served as President of both the Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics, and the 3D Analysis of Human Movement Technical Group of the International Society of Biomechanics. He is the co-President of the 9th World Congress of Biomechanics to be held in Taipei on July 10-14, 2022. His research interests include human motion analysis, orthopaedic engineering, medical imaging-based biomechanics, sports biomechanics, mathematical modeling of the musculoskeletal system, wearable sensor technology, and rehabilitation engineering. He has published more than 180 peer-reviewed journal papers and has served as Editor-in-Chief for Biomedical Engineering: Applications, Basis and Communications, and as Editorial Board Members for several international journals.

Hao-Ling Chen

Hao-Ling Chen is currently an Associate Professor of School of Occupational Therapy, National Taiwan University. She is also a part-time occupational therapist in Child Developmental Assessment & Intervention Center, National Taiwan University Hospital. She received her BS degree in Department of Occupational Therapy at Chang Gung University and PhD in Department of Biomedical Engineering at National Taiwan University. Her research interests include human motion science, motor control, assistive technology and neurorehabilitation.

International Scientific Committee Co-chair
Li-Shan Chou
Iowa State University, USA
Li-Shan Chou is currently the Chair and Professor in Department of Kinesiology at the Iowa State University (ISU). He received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tatung Institute of Technology in Taiwan, and subsequently earned his MS and Ph.D. degrees, both in Mechanical Engineering, from University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as completed his postdoctoral training at University of Chicago and Mayo Clinic. He has served on the faculty of University of Oregon for 19 years (4 years as the Department Head of Human Physiology) before joining ISU in 2019. His interdisciplinary research investigates biomechanical markers that lead to sensitive detection and understanding of underlying mechanisms related to mobility/balance impairments associated with ageing, musculoskeletal diseases or injuries, and traumatic brain injury. Up to date, he has mentored 17 PhDs and many maters and undergraduate students, and his team published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers. His teaching is in the areas of biomechanical analysis of human movement, orthopedic biomechanics, and rehabilitation engineering. He is a Fellow of American Society of Biomechanics and serves as the Associate Editor and Section Editor to Gait and Posture and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, respectively. He is also the past-president of the International Society of Biomechanics 3D Analysis of Human Movement Technical Group.

Taiji Adachi

Taiji Adachi PhD is Professor at the Laboratory of Biomechanics, Department of Biosystems Science, Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences, Kyoto University. He received his BS (1990) in Mechanical Engineering at Kobe University, MS (1992) and PhD (1997) in Mechanical Engineering at Osaka University. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as a Research Associate (1992) at Kobe University, worked as a Research Fellow at the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan (1997-99). He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Associate Professor (2004) at Kyoto University, and he is currently a Professor (2010-) at the Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences. He is working in the fields of bone adaptation, cell and molecular biomechanics, and has been a Member of World Council of Biomechanics (2011-).

Ming-Shaung Ju

Ming-Shaung JU received B.Sc. degree, in 1978, and M.Sc. degree, in 1982, in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, and Ph.D. degree, in 1986, in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. In 1987 he joined the faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department at National Cheng Kung University as an associate Professor and a Professor since 1993. He has served as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, the Associate Director of Yen Tjing-Ling Technology Research and Development Center, and the Associate Dean of Engineering College of National Cheng Kung University. He has visited Mayo Clinic, Rochester, San Jose State University, San Jose, and University of Washington, Seattle, USA as visiting scholars. He has served in the Board of Directors of Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers, Board of Directors and Supervisors of Taiwanese Society of Biomedical Engineering and President of Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics (2006-2008). He co-organized the XXI Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB2007) at Taipei, Taiwan. He is the Secretary of the Council of Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics (2017-2021). He serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering, Journal of Mechanics in Medicine and Biology, Journal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, JSME and Journal of Chinese Institute of Engineers. He received the Outstanding Professor Award, Chinese Institute of Engineers-Kaohsiung Chapter (2016). He has published more than 115 technical papers on referred journals, three book chapters and ten Taiwanese and USA patents. His research interests include biomechanics of peripheral nerve, EEG-based brain computer interface and neural prosthesis, micro-system technology for minimally invasive biomedical devices, medical robots and seizure suppression.

Ryo Sudo

Ryo Sudo is currently a Professor of the Department of System Design Engineering, Keio University, Japan. He received his BS (2000), MS (2002), and PhD (2005) from Keio University. After he worked on liver tissue engineering in his PhD study, he also worked on vascular tissue engineering as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2006, he moved to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, and developed microfluidic devices for 3D tissue engineering as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biological Engineering during 2006-2009. He joined the Department of System Design Engineering as an Assistant Professor at Keio University in 2009, became an Associate Professor in 2012, and has been a Professor since 2020. His research interests include the design and fabrication of microfluidic systems and their applications to in vitro tissue engineering. Specifically, he is interested in elucidating engineering principles for the integrity of multicellular 3D systems composed of liver, vascular, neural, and cancer cells in the context of cell biomechanics, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. He is a member of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS), IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), and the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME). He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, which is an open-access, international e-journal published as the official journal of the Bioengineering Division of JSME, the Korean Society of Biomechanics (KSB), the Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics (TSB), and Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics (APAB).
